    Answer the following question within twenty-five words:

    Answer: The businessman was wearing a white muslin dhoti, a delicate tunic and an embroidered cap on his head.

    (2) What did the monkey do after accepting the fruit vendor’s bargain ?

    Answer: The monkeys took over the bananas that the fruit vendor offered to him with his right hand and gave away the slightly crumpled embroidered cap of Sethji with his left hand.

    (3) How did the whole amusing episode end ?

    Answer: The whole amusing episode ended in a bitter sense of grievance against the rich businessman who had been so hard on the generous-hearted fruit vendor.

    Composition:

    Exercise 8

    Write a story about 100 words using the given hints. Give a suitable title to the story:

    Hints: two cats find a piece of bread – fight over it – monkey arrives – decides to settle the dispute – monkey breaks the bread into two – uneven size – eats a portion from the larger share – dispute continues – monkey eats both pieces of bread

    Answer:

    The Cunning Monkey

    Once there lived two cats who were good friends. One day they found a piece of bread on their way. Both became greedy and wanted to have a big share of it. They fought over it. When they were fighting, a monkey was passing by and listened to their fight. He decided to settle their dispute. The monkey was cunning and he smartly broke the bread into two pieces into uneven sizes. The cats were hopeful that they would get a piece of it, but they didn’t know that the monkey was making them fool. He eats a larger portion from the larger share. Again the two cats started fighting with each other unaware of the monkey’s tricks. In this way, the monkey ate both the pieces of bread and nothing was left to the cats. The cats were fooled by the cunning monkey. Their stupid act of fighting ended up making them lose.

     Moral: Cunning takes advantage of fighting among themselves.

    Exercise 9

    Using the following points write a paragraph in about 100 words on how your locality looks like at dawn:

    your place of stay – early morning sky – description of the nature around – sounds that are heard – reasons for enjoyment – conclusion

    Answer:

    I live in an area near a beautiful garden. I live at Rani Bagan in Cooch Behar district which is surrounded by beautiful greenery. The surrounding is filled with much calmness and beauty, especially at dawn. At dawn, the wind blows and cool breeze makes us ready to face the day with positivity. There are birds chirping as if making everyone awake. All the laziness is gone when we experience this serenity. Everything looks splendid and our day is filled with optimism. The sound of birds is soothing to our ears. It is a treat to our eyes to enjoy such beautiful scenery. I feel lucky to be residing at such a place where the day starts with beauty. It relaxes our mind and body.
