    The Clever Monkey | Class 5 | Lesson 6 | Activity Question answer | WBBPE

    “The Clever Monkey” is a lesson of the Textbook “Butterfly” approved by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education for Class 5 Students. Here all the Activity Questions are done by English teachers.

    ACTIVITY – 1

    Answer the following question:

    1. Where did the monkey live?

    Answer: The monkey lived on the bank of the river.

    2. Why was there no danger for the monkey on the river island?

    Answer: There was no danger for the monkey on the river island because there were hardly any other animals.

    3. What was so attractive to the monkey?

    Answer: The delicious fruits were so attractive to the monkey.

    4. Where did the crocodile live?

    Answer: The crocodile lived on the far bank of the river.

    5. Who gave advice to the crocodile about catching the monkey?

    Answer: Crocodile’s wife advised him about catching the monkey.

    ACTIVITY – 2

    Let’s take words from the coloured box and fill in the blanks:

    Answer the following questions:

    Answer: The crocodile swam to the rock.

    b. Why did the monkey become suspicious?

    Answer: The monkey was suspicious because the rock became so large that day.

    c. What was the monkey’s suggestion to the crocodile?

    Answer: The monkey’s suggestion to the crocodile was to open his mouth wide and he will jump straight into his mouth.

    d. What did the monkey tell the crocodile from his safe shelter?

    Answer: The monkey to the crocodile from his safe shelter was “you foolish crocodile! You can never catch me. No doubt you’re bigger than me, but you’re a bigger fool too!”

    ACTIVITY – 7

    Fill in the blanks with the words from the story. The first letters of the words are given:

    Now read in pairs the following passage and underline the prepositions there. One is done for you.

    The farmer took a sharp axe and struck at the truck of the tree. All the creatures living in the tree started to request the farmer not to cut down the tree. But the farmer didn’t listen to them. He was in a hurry to finish off his work.

    ACTIVITY – 13

    Let’s write a short story in eight sentences with the following hints. Give it a title.

    A fox fell into a well –  failed to get out – a goat came –  fox asked goat to drink water from the well –  goat jumped in –  fox climbed on the goat’s back –  got out –  goat remained in the well.

    Title : The clever fox and a foolish goat

    Once a fox was moving around a village. He was not careful. Suddenly, he fell into a well. He tried his best to come out of the well but failed. Just then a goat was passing by the well. The goat thought the fox had gone down  to drink water, and so he asked if the water was good. The fox asked the goat to drink water from the well. The foolish goat jumped into the well. The fox just as quickly climbed on the goat’s back and jumped out from the well. And the goat remained in the well.

    Moral: Think well before you act.
